Chapter History

We were founded on March 14, 1927.  According to the minutes of the 1928 ZTA Convention, the Lexington ZTA Alumnae Chapter was one of the first twenty alumnae chapters that were given a charter.

The chapter was re-organized on February 11, 1959.  Our best guess is that the alumnae chapter closed during World War II and was reorganized in 1959 when the Alpha Chi house was built at the University of Kentucky.

We have Zeta Tau Alpha history right here in Lexington!  Mrs. Anna Bruce Houston Davis, ZTA First Editor of Themis (ZTA's official magazine) from 1902 -1904 and second Grand President from 1904-1908, is buried at the Lexington Cemetery.  Mrs. Davis was instrumental in bringing Zeta Tau Alpha to the University of Kentucky in 1924.
